01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Joe, founded in 2020 in Paris by Kevin Ohana and Yohan Elbase (Y Combinator Winter 2022), built a direct-to-consumer buy-now-pay-later app for Europe. Shoppers installed the app to split any purchase — in-store or online, from 100 to 3,000 euros — into several installments after the purchase, including via one-time virtual cards. In November 2022 the company sold its technology, customer base and team to Django, the buy-now-pay-later subsidiary of La Banque Postale, and the Joe brand was retired.
