01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Multis, founded in Paris in 2019 by Thibaut Sahaghian and Théophile Villard as a Y Combinator Summer 2019 company, built banking-like accounts and treasury tooling for teams holding cryptocurrency. Its initial product was a business account built on a multisignature Ethereum wallet in which Multis did not control the keys, letting teams store, send and receive crypto. It later repositioned as accounting and treasury management software for web3 organizations, generating financial statements and automating accounting across wallets. It raised over $9 million from investors including Sequoia Capital, White Star Capital and Coinbase Ventures, and was acquired by Safe (formerly Gnosis Safe) in April 2024.
