vyclone
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Vyclone combined videos filmed by several people at the same event into multi-angle shared videos, using location information to identify nearby participants.
02 / vyclone FAILURE REASONS
Failure reasons
The concept depended on many people recording at the same event and uploading to the app, but it never generated enough content submissions to sustain a social product. Reviews noted the app had too few users for its proximity-matching to work well, and a former team member later described usability problems such as slow camera startup and confusing navigation. The startup ran out of runway, and after years of limping on, the company switched the app off on July 22, 2016.
