What the company did

8apps was a suite of online applications for social networking and collaboration active in the mid-2000s. Its flagship app Handshake was a social network for professionals to connect and find like-minded entrepreneurs, and users could collaborate through companion apps for task management (Orchestrate) and brainstorming. The service shut down in 2008.
