01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
LiveUniverse was a Los Angeles-based online entertainment network run by former MySpace exec Brad Greenspan (who made $48 million in MySpace's 2005 sale to News Corp.). Its flagship property was LiveVideo.com, an online live-video community and social network with 200,000+ daily users. The company went on an acquisition streak: it bought video-sharing site Revver (February 2008, under $5M), AJAX start-page provider Pageflakes (March 2008, cash and stock), voice startup Jangl, and Peerflix Media (August 2008), touting over 55 million monthly visitors across its properties.

03 / EVENT HISTORY
Events in the structured record
- Acquisition streak
LiveUniverse acquired Revver (Feb 2008), Pageflakes (Mar 2008) and Peerflix Media (Aug 2008) as it built an online entertainment network around LiveVideo.
- Recorded event
The dataset records an acquisition event in 2009. No public source documents a specific 2009 acquisition of LiveUniverse itself; by March 2009 the company was visibly struggling (unpaid employees and partners at acquired MeeVee, service outages), so the 2009 marker could not be independently verified.
