01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

KnockaTV was an Israeli 'participatory internet television' startup founded by former ICQ (Mirabilis) employees and led by co-founder and CEO Nir Erlich. It ran a multi-channel internet broadcast network of user-generated content: professional producers packaged top user-voted clips into continuously running live channels with real-time chat, voting and webcams, with users deciding the playlist. It raised $1 million from Israeli VC firm Evergreen Venture Partners in June 2007.
