Nametag is a Seattle-based decentralized-identity startup led by CEO Victor Cheng, building a cross-chain, cross-platform service for decentralized usernames and social identity that bridges legacy social media and web3. Users install a Chrome or Brave browser extension to display their web3 username and digital collectibles (NFTs, achievements, 'Nokens') on sites like Twitter, Discord and YouTube. In December 2022 Nametag raised a $2 million seed round led by GSRV and OKX Ventures (with Coinbase Ventures, Alchemy Ventures, Mask Network and others), reporting 150,000 ecosystem users. No shutdown, bankruptcy or acquisition has been reported.
