What the company did
Arise Travel (Arise Technology Inc.) was a San Francisco travel-tech startup building a blockchain-based distributed network for hotel distribution. Using distributed ledger technology (a non-currency application), it created a shared, distributed cache of hotel room and rate information: hotels set the commission rate they were willing to pay, any connected service could sell those rooms and earn the commission, and smart contracts automatically handled commission payouts — helping hotels cut out intermediaries and connect directly with travel sellers.
