01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
BluSmart was India's pioneering all-electric ride-hailing company, founded in 2019 by Anmol Singh Jaggi and Punit Goyal. Unlike aggregator rivals, it owned and operated its own fleet of more than 8,700 electric vehicles across Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru and Mumbai, offering fixed fares with no surge pricing and employed drivers. The company completed over 25 million rides, reached an annual revenue run rate of about 840 crore rupees (~$98 million), and raised about $180 million from investors including BP Ventures. It suspended all operations in April 2025 after a fraud scandal engulfed its sister company Gensol Engineering, which leased it the EV fleet.
