01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Scope Sports, operating as Scope, was an athlete fan-engagement platform founded in 2022 and based in Barcelona, Spain, with a New York presence. It let fans purchase exclusive member cards for individual athletes, starting with tennis players, granting access to limited fan clubs where they could co-create content with athletes, interact directly, and join online and real-life experiences. The model flipped the traditional sponsorship arrangement by putting the monetization of a player's fan base directly in the athlete's hands rather than a sponsor's or third party's. Scope raised around $500,000 and launched with tennis players including Noah Rubin, Andrea Collarini, Franco Agamenone and Michael Geerts. The company was later absorbed into feature.io's sports engagement operation.
