01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

10Club was an Indian e-commerce brand aggregator: it acquired small online sellers and sought to combine operations to improve margins.

02 / 10Club FAILURE REASONS

Failure reasons

Despite raising about $70 million, 10Club never came close to profitability. Its Thrasio-style roll-up model - consolidating small e-commerce brands under one company to cut overheads - failed to deliver workable margins: the acquired brands in home, garden, sports, and baby-care categories did not scale, and the company could not orient its business toward stronger markets or pivot to an alternative strategy in time. Stiff competition from legacy home brands and global giants such as Ikea left little room to turn the business around in its core home-accessories niche. Vendor payments stalled, employees received delayed and partial salaries, and existing investors refused to provide further rescue funding.
