01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Pilla was a Brazilian fintech founded to serve the salary-advance market. It launched its payroll-loan product (crédito consignado privado) in 2023, letting employees of partner companies borrow against their wages with instalments deducted directly from payroll (up to 48-month terms). By the time of its acquisition it served more than 75,000 employees at 40 companies — 80% SMEs with up to 1,000 staff, plus large employers such as RD Saúde. It was led by founders Henrique Soares and Matheus Assy and headquartered in São Paulo.
