What the company did
theGist was a Tel Aviv and New York-based productivity AI company founded in 2022 by Itay Dressler, Itzik Ben-Bassat and Nir Zohar, on a mission to fight workplace information overload with generative AI. Its first product, theGist for Slack, scanned hundreds of channel posts and threads to deliver personalized, instant summaries — typing '/gist' generated a bullet-point recap visible only to the requester. In November 2022 it raised $7 million in a pre-seed round co-led by StageOne Ventures and Aleph, with 10 employees at launch.
