01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Arctic Farming was an Espoo, Finland agritech startup founded in 2019 by Oliver Rotko (CEO), Daniel Rotko (CSO), Rodrigo Prieto Padilla (CTO) and Ignaty Romanov-Chernigovsky (Head of Software), all with space-industry backgrounds. It built fully automated, IoT-based vertical farming modules — 'farming walls' — leased to restaurants, hospitality and retail customers together with a seed-pod subscription, enabling hyperlocal production of fresh herbs, leafy greens and berries. The company raised around $635,000 in total, including a €150,000 seed round in 2022.
