01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Hola Cash was a Mexico City fintech startup founded in 2019 as a spinout of the U.S. startup studio Pioneer Square Labs. It built a payment platform for Latin America that let users pay friends, stores, merchants and utilities without cash, cards or ATMs, and — by 2022 — offered LatAm's first unified checkout solution combining all payment methods, fraud prevention and one-click checkout into a single integration, with approval rates above 90%. Co-founder and CEO Leonardo Estrada described its mission as moving money from point A to point B in Latin America quickly and safely, with an eventual goal of becoming the region's largest bank.
