01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
OXLiD was an Oxford-based lithium-sulfur (Li-S) battery technology developer founded in 2022 by Dr. Adrien Amigues, the former Head of IP at lithium-sulfur company OXIS Energy. It developed and sought to commercialize Li-S batteries for electrified transportation and sustainable energy storage in electric aviation, maritime and electric vehicles, including a lightweight, ultra-thin solid-state separator (SES) to improve cycle life, operating temperature and energy density. Investors included the Faraday Battery Challenge and the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK.

Adrien Amigues founded OXLiD in Oxford in 2022 to develop lithium-sulfur battery technology.
- Acquired by Gelion
In November 2023 OXLiD was acquired by AIM-listed Anglo-Australian battery innovator Gelion plc, advised on the deal by Penningtons Manches Cooper. Amigues said joining Gelion would let the team develop and commercialize Li-S batteries for mass markets faster; OXLiD became Gelion Europe.
