01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Hailo, founded in London in 2011 by Jay Bregman, Ron Zeghibe, Terry Runham, Caspar Woolley, Gary Jackson and Russel Hall, was a British taxi e-hailing platform that matched licensed taxi drivers and passengers through its mobile app. Born from a meeting of three London cab drivers and three tech entrepreneurs, it was one of the first apps to let Londoners hail a black cab by smartphone; by May 2013 it had enabled over 3 million rides from 30,000 registered drivers, and by late 2013 the service was available in 16 cities.
