01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Ordr.in was a New York City food-tech startup founded in early 2010 by CEO David Bloom and co-founder Felix Sheng. Rather than a consumer ordering site, it was an API for food ordering - 'the power of food to any app, service, or website'. It aggregated 72 local food ordering sites across the US covering about 7,000 restaurants, normalized the messy menu data, and exposed it through an API that partners like Wyndham Hotels used to add food ordering to their own products, sharing a cut of each transaction. It raised a seed round from Google Ventures led by Rich Miner and was a TechStars NYC demo-day company in 2011.
