What the company did

Jumbo was a privacy assistant mobile app founded in 2019 by Pierre Valade (formerly of Sunrise Calendar). It gave consumers a dashboard to control privacy settings across Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Maps and Instagram — deleting and archiving old social posts, removing YouTube search history and turning on LinkedIn privacy settings — plus 2-factor authentication tools, email-breach notifications and identity theft insurance. It ran as a consumer subscription business, reaching about 25,000 paid subscribers after raising $30 million in total. In January 2023 it tore down its paywall, making consumer features free and planning a paid B2B product; in July 2023 it was acquired by cyber insurance startup Coalition in a small acqui-hire transaction, and the app was shut down the following year.
