01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Surfboard was a London-based collaborative workforce management platform for customer support teams, founded in 2021 by CEO Natasha Ratanshi-Stein. Its software used historical ticket data to forecast demand, plan capacity, and build fair schedules up to 12 weeks ahead - replacing the spreadsheets that support managers normally relied on - with integrations to Salesforce, Zendesk, Aircall, Dixa, Intercom, and HR systems like Personio and Bamboo. Customers included Ruggable, Beauty Pie, Grow Therapy, Bloom & Wild, Cuckoo Internet, and Lick. It raised a $5 million seed round in November 2022 led by Speedinvest (with Fly Ventures, Seedcamp, Nomad Capital, Foreword VC, Tokyo Black, and angels including Tessian's Tim Sadler and Edward Bishop). In 2024 Surfboard was acquired by Dialpad as part of Dialpad's move into workforce management.
