01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Revix was a Cape Town-based cryptocurrency investment platform founded in 2018 by Sean Sanders and Louis Buys (backed by JSE-listed Sabvest), with a UK arm in London. It aimed to make crypto funds accessible to ordinary investors through diversified 'Bundles' of cryptocurrencies — like ETFs for the crypto market — automatically rebalanced monthly, plus a loyalty rewards program redeemable for Bitcoin. It raised ZAR 11 million from Sabvest in 2019 and about $4 million in April 2021 to launch a mobile app and expand into the EU. Note: Revix suffered a serious 2023 distress event but no confirmed shutdown — see timeline.
