Alluo
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
A noncustodial mobile wallet giving users access to decentralized-finance yields.
02 / Alluo FAILURE REASONS
Failure reasons
Alluo wound down because the DeFi yield model stopped working in adverse market conditions: the protocol pooled customer deposits and deployed them across DeFi protocols like Aave and Curve, but when markets turned, the team said it could no longer sustain operations and told users to withdraw. Regulatory pressure compounded the problems — California's Department of Financial Protection and Innovation issued a Desist and Refrain Order finding that Alluo's 7%-APY crypto interest accounts were unregistered securities sold through general solicitation.
03 / EVENT HISTORY
Events in the structured record
- Product or service closed
A first-party alluo.com notice titled “Alluo is no more” states the Alluo application and associated smart contracts are officially closing and will no longer be maintained. The page is archived on the Wayback Machine as of 5 January 2025 (still present on later 2025–2026 captures); the notice itself is undated so the capture date is a latest-on-or-before bound, not a company-stated close date.
