What the company did
Insight Data Science was a Palo Alto-based education startup founded in 2011 by Jake Klamka as part of Y Combinator's 2011 batch. It ran free, intensive seven-week fellowships that helped PhD graduates and engineers transition from academia into careers in data science, data engineering, health data and AI. Fellows built industry-relevant data projects over seven weeks, received mentorship from data scientists at top tech companies, and interviewed with hiring partners; over 2,000 alumni went on to data roles at companies including Facebook, Netflix, LinkedIn, Apple, Airbnb and Microsoft. The company was backed by Y Combinator, SV Angel, Avalon Ventures, Initialized Capital and Data Collective.
