05 / CAUSAL CHAIN
How the factors connect
- 01
In November 2025 Keystone and several of its brewing subsidiaries filed notices of intention to appoint administrators, citing intense pressure from trade creditors after a sharp drop in sales; FRP Advisory was engaged to conduct a cashflow and options review.
- 02
A 3.75 million pound shareholder cash injection in 2025, made in anticipation of a seasonal autumn/winter sales uplift, failed as the uplift did not materialise, leaving a projected deficit of about 2 million pounds.
- 03
FRP raced to find a buyer over the festive period; seven offers were received, and creditors were owed 15 million pounds prior to sale.
- 04
On January 22, 2026 administrators from FRP Advisory were appointed to the business and the group was sold the same day to Saltaire Brewing, owned by Paramount Retail Group, for 4.5 million pounds plus a committed 2 million pound investment plan.
- 05
The buyer combined Saltaire with the Keystone brands under a new entity, The Great British Drinks Company, saving 145 jobs and continuing to brew the brands; no audited loss figure was disclosed.
