01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Sosh was a curated local-activities service that answered the 'what should we do?' question: it aggregated unique, bookable events and activities — hikes, cooking classes, tastings, outings — and personalized recommendations to each user, with human curators vetting every listing. Founded in 2012 in San Francisco by Rishi Mandal and Vivek Patel (ex-Slide/Google), it scaled across multiple US cities coast to coast by building deep relationships with local businesses and customers, and was beloved by millions as a concierge on the cutting edge of culture.

Events in the structured record
- Founded
Rishi Mandal and Vivek Patel found Sosh in San Francisco after leaving Slide/Google; the curated activity service launches.
- Acquired by Postmates
In November 2015 Postmates acquires the Sosh team — founders and 18 employees join Postmates in San Francisco to accelerate its product and business; Sosh's service is discontinued and merchant partners are directed to Eventbrite. Postmates does not take on Sosh's technology.
