01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
PayPerPost was a sponsored-content marketplace founded in 2006 by Ted Murphy — the first influencer marketing platform — where advertisers paid bloggers to write about their products. Disclosure of the payment was initially optional, which drew heavy criticism; the company later introduced the industry's first disclosure policy. By late 2007 it counted over 85,000 bloggers and 11,000 advertisers.
