01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

INNOVO was the flagship product of Atlantic Therapeutics, a Galway, Ireland-based medical device company spun out of Bio-medical Research Group (BMR) in 2017. INNOVO is a non-invasive pelvic floor strengthening device that treats stress urinary incontinence: worn like a pair of exercise shorts, it uses neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) technology to deliver 180 pelvic floor contractions in a 30-minute at-home session, strengthening and re-educating the muscles. It became the first transcutaneous electrical stimulator cleared by the FDA as a safe, clinically effective treatment for stress urinary incontinence in November 2018, and was sold directly to consumers with starter kits priced around €399.
