01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Swapbox was a Y Combinator-backed startup founded in 2013 that built automated package lockers - modular kiosks installed in grocery stores, cafes, gas stations, and other neighborhood locations - so people could have parcels shipped to a convenient pickup point instead of missing deliveries. Co-founded by Neel Murthy, it launched in San Francisco's Nob Hill and positioned itself against Bufferbox, which had just been acquired by Google. No reliable public record of the company's later fate exists.
