Flip\USA
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Flip USA refers to the U.S. operation of Flip, the social commerce app also known as Flip Shop. It combined TikTok-style short video product reviews with instant e-commerce: shoppers discovered items through 60-second user-generated videos, checked out in one click, and could earn commissions as creators when their reviews drove sales. The company was founded in 2019 in Los Angeles by Noor Agha.
02 / Flip\USA FAILURE REASONS
Failure reasons
Flip USA shut down with its parent operation in 2025. The app's growth had been fueled by unsustainable incentives such as steep referral rewards and a $100 million creator equity fund, while revenue never caught up with acquisition costs. Competition from TikTok Shop compounded the pressure, and creators reported payments becoming harder to secure in the months before the closure.
