Delivree King
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Delivree King was a Delhi-based e-commerce logistics startup founded in March 2015 by Neeraj Bisht and Akash Sharma. It offered tech-enabled four-hour, same-day and next-day delivery with a twist: its delivery agents doubled as salespeople, pitching other products of its e-commerce clients during drop-offs. Clients included Lenskart, Askmebazaar, Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal; at peak it ran about 1,000 daily deliveries with around 100 employees.
02 / Delivree King FAILURE REASONS
Failure reasons
Delivree King ran out of money while trying to scale a capital-hungry logistics network. It expanded to about 15 cities on seed funding alone, doing 1,000 daily deliveries — a volume that required far more capital to sustain. When its Series A fundraising failed in late 2015, operations were first halted in July, briefly resumed with outside backing, then stopped for good at the end of November. The founders said it plainly: the business needs money to scale, and without funds breaking even was impossible.

05 / CAUSAL CHAIN
How the factors connect
- 01
Logistics is a scale-or-die business: 15 cities on seed money is a promise you cannot fund
- 02
1,000 daily deliveries sounds like traction but can still be far below break-even
- 03
A clever twist (delivery agents as salesmen) does not fix unit economics
- 04
When the Series A fails, the shutdown is usually months — not years — away
