Gozoomo
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
GoZoomo, run by Youngmonk Technologies Pvt. Ltd, was a Bangalore-based mobile peer-to-peer marketplace for pre-owned cars, founded in July 2014 by Arnav Kumar, Himangshu Hazarika and Aniket Behera. It connected buyers and sellers of used cars directly, offering verified, pre-inspected cars without brokerage, and operated in Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune and Chennai. The company raised close to $7-8 million, primarily from SAIF Partners.
02 / Gozoomo FAILURE REASONS
Failure reasons
GoZoomo shut down because its unit economics never worked: in a fragmented peer-to-peer market it could not standardize used-car prices, causing repeated price revisions between sellers and buyers, and the listing-to-transaction conversion rate was only about 20%. The founders iterated through four different business models over two quarters, but high cash burn and intense competition made the business unsustainable.
