01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
LinkSure (Shanghai LinkSure Network Technology Co., Ltd., 上海连尚网络科技有限公司) is a Chinese mobile internet company founded in 2013. Its flagship product, WiFi Master Key (WiFi万能钥匙), is a free app that connects users to shared WiFi hotspots — a sharing-economy model in which users share idle WiFi resources. At its peak it claimed 500 million registered accounts and 250 million monthly active users, and monetized through advertising. The company also set up a RMB 500 million WiFi industry investment fund in 2015 and became executive chairman of the China Mobile Communications Association's WiFi industry alliance.

Events in the structured record
- Founded
Founded in Shanghai in 2013 (a project originating from Shanda Innovation Institute, led by Chen Danian); launched WiFi Master Key.
- Series A at $1B
Raised $52 million in a Series A at a $1 billion valuation — then a record for a Chinese mobile internet startup — and set up a RMB 500 million WiFi industry investment fund.
- Recorded event year
The dataset records a 2024 event year with unknown type. No reliable public source documents a shutdown, bankruptcy or delisting of LinkSure in 2024; the company and its WiFi Master Key app appear to remain active, so the 2024 marker could not be verified.
