tripda
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Tripda was a Rocket Internet-backed long-distance carpooling marketplace founded in São Paulo, Brazil in 2014. Like Europe's BlaBlaCar, it connected passengers with drivers heading the same way, letting users sign up with Facebook, search routes and book rides at driver-set prices. It launched in Brazil in May 2014, expanded to 13 countries across South America, the US, India, Pakistan, Singapore and Taiwan, matched 1 million travelers to rides, and raised $11 million in Series A funding in January 2015. It ceased operations on March 4, 2016 after failing to raise a Series B.
