What the company did
Metatime was a Turkey-based crypto project founded by CEO Yusuf Sevim around 2023, marketed as a 'freedom project' aiming to build a cryptocurrency ecosystem around its MetatimeCoin (MTC) token and a planned crypto exchange. It ran a large MetaAirdrop campaign in 2023 that drew more than 350,000 supporters within six months and made headlines when Twitter banned over 100,000 accounts linked to the campaign for retweeting Metatime messages - prompting the #FreeMetaTime hashtag and a personal appeal from Sevim to Elon Musk. The project raised an $11 million seed round. In December 2024 Bitget suspended withdrawal services for the MTC-MetaTime network while trading continued. No dated shutdown of the Metatime project itself was found.
