01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Ping Services (Ping Monitor) was an Adelaide-based climate-tech startup founded by Matthew Stead and Jon Cooper. After about six years of R&D, it launched a world-first aero-acoustic monitoring system: a conical listening device attached to wind-turbine towers that continuously assesses blade health from the blades' acoustic signature, rating damage on a 1-to-5 scale and detecting faults such as lightning/hail pitting or cracks. Remote data was transmitted via Myriota nanosatellite connectivity. By 2023 it had installed over 800 Ping Monitors on turbines in 23 countries.
