01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
RegistryLove was a Cupertino-based wedding startup in Y Combinator's Summer 2012 batch that built the first universal wedding registry: 'any store, one registry.' Couples could register products and services from anywhere — traditional department-store items, local gems, honeymoons and activities — and consolidate them onto one registry, importing existing registries from big-box retailers or working with a wedding concierge who assembled personalized recommendations. It had 3,000 brides signed up at launch and raised a $170,000 angel round.
