ImVitro
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
ImVitro, founded in Paris in 2019 by Alexandra Boussommier-Calleja, built EMBRYOLY, a B2B SaaS platform that applied computer vision and AI to IVF: it analyzed embryo time-lapse images alongside clinical data to help embryologists pick the best embryo for transfer and standardize quality control in fertility clinics. The company raised a $2.5 million seed round in December 2022 and grew to a team of about 18.
02 / ImVitro FAILURE REASONS
Failure factors supported by the current evidence
ImVitro operated in one of the hardest deeptech niches: a regulated medical-device market with long clinical validation and sales cycles. After the $2.5 million seed round in 2022, no follow-on financing materialized to carry the company through those cycles. The founder announced the closure in late 2024, and the Bobigny commercial court opened liquidation proceedings on November 21, 2024, with cessation of payments dated October 23, 2024.
