01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
DormChat was a college messaging app founded in 2014 by Penn State alumni Adam Michalski and Doug Holmes, pitched as a 'local Twitter' for campuses. Students signed up with a university email and joined location-based chatrooms around nearby places or topics, posting under a profile or an anonymous handle, with photos and direct messages. It expanded to 60 universities and raised seed funding from ff Venture Capital, operating out of the firm's Hoboken office.
