01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Allset, founded in 2015 by Ukrainian immigrants Stas Matviyenko and Anna Polishchuk and headquartered in Los Angeles, was a food pre-ordering platform connecting busy diners with local restaurants. Users could order and pay ahead for dine-in meals or contactless takeout pickup, skipping the wait; restaurants paid a commission (12%) on orders. The service operated in 11 US cities with more than 2,500 restaurant partners.

- Founded
Stas Matviyenko and Anna Polishchuk found Allset as a food pre-ordering platform for dine-in and takeout.
- Series B
In April 2020, Allset raises an $8.25 million Series B led by the EBRD with Andreessen Horowitz, Greycroft, SMRK, and Inovo participating, bringing total funding to $16.6 million; the company pivots hard to contactless takeout as COVID-19 shuts dining rooms, though orders initially drop 60%.
- Layoffs
In August 2022, Allset lays off 30% of its global team (29 employees) in a restructuring blamed on the economic downturn and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, aiming to extend runway and improve unit economics.
