01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Drive Pulse was a teen-driving monitor built by Stanford graduate Giancarlo Daniele. It combined a small OBD-II dongle that plugs into a car's onboard diagnostics port with GPS and an internet connection, feeding driving data to a parent-facing app. The app sent alerts when a teen driver slammed on the brakes, exceeded 80 mph, floored the accelerator, drove on the highway, or when the check engine light came on, and also tracked the car's location.
