01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Reviewpad was a Porto, Portugal-based developer-tools startup founded in 2019 by Adriano Martins and Marcelo Sousa (an Oxford PhD in automated software verification, formerly of SonarSource). Its platform automated the code review process for developers: it combined multiple AI techniques — including ChatGPT integration to summarize and review pull requests — to reduce code merge times by 50%, leaving only essential tasks to developers. Available for GitHub on a free open-source plan and $8 per developer per month, it was used daily by over 80 GitHub organizations including Channable. It raised €1.53 million in total, including a €1 million pre-seed round led by Shilling VC in April 2023.
