01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Innovation Discovery was a startup founded in early 2016 by Italian entrepreneur Carlo Rivis, operating between San Diego and Italy. It set out to build the first world-wide database of innovations, connecting potential customers with new products and technologies. The platform was planned in two parts: a consumer-oriented front-end styled like Wikipedia, with innovations organized by category, and a business-oriented back-end styled like LinkedIn to network innovations, companies, dealers, installers and consultants. Rivis's thesis was that useful innovations go unused mainly because of missing knowledge and fear of change.
