01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
DoorDash Air is DoorDash's in-house drone delivery program, developed inside DoorDash Labs, the company's robotics and autonomy team. It pairs a custom-built six-propeller aircraft with an end-to-end system — ground infrastructure, merchant handoff and the Autonomous Delivery Platform that routes each order to a Dasher, a sidewalk robot or a drone. After earning FAA Part 135 air carrier certification, DoorDash announced the program publicly in July 2026, with pilot deliveries in Northern California alongside partners including Chipotle and Popeyes, averaging under five minutes per delivery in early tests.
