01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Fashion Project was a Boston-based online clothing-donation startup founded in 2012 by Harvard Law graduate Anna Palmer and co-founder Christine (then Christin) with Palmer. The platform collected designer clothing donations online — donors ordered a free collection bag with a prepaid postage label — and resold the items, donating the majority of net proceeds to the donor's chosen charity from more than 2,000 nonprofit partners (Dana-Farber, The Jimmy Fund, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Dress for Success, Autism Speaks, and the CFDA among them). It raised a $7.2 million Series A round, facilitated 300,000+ donated items across 36 countries, and partnered with Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman before selling itself in 2016.
