1520
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
1520 delivered groceries from local fulfillment stores, advertising delivery within twenty minutes without a delivery fee.
02 / 1520 FAILURE REASONS
Failure reasons
Its expansion faced high customer-acquisition costs and better-funded competitors. The available capital did not sustain the operation. This explanation concerns the company’s commercial model, not a claim that every rapid-delivery company must fail.

Business Insider reported on 2 December 2021 that New York ultrafast grocery startup 1520 (founded Jan 2021 by Oleg Shevlyagin; NYC and Chicago) shut down after burning through seed capital and after a non-binding Jokr acquisition/term-sheet process did not close; executives and investors decided to wind down. Grocery Dive (3/14 Dec 2021) independently noted the app pointing users to Getir and cited the BI funding-exhaustion report.
