01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Ringly was a New York-based smart jewelry company founded in 2013 by CEO Christina Mercando d'Avignon. It made a smart ring designed for women — compact, functional and genuinely stylish — that delivered phone notifications through vibration and light. It introduced wearables to mainstream consumers without the masculine edge usually associated with them, and found what the industry called the holy grail: customers who actually wanted the product.
