Lora DiCarlo
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Lora DiCarlo (founded 2017 by Lora Haddock, Bend, Oregon) was a women-led sex tech company. Its flagship device, Osé, was a hands-free product using biomimicry and micro-robotics to mimic the sensation of a human mouth, tongue and fingers — developed by robotics and AI engineers and subject to eight pending patents. The company became famous in January 2019 when CES's Innovation Awards selected Osé as an honoree, then revoked the award and banned the company from exhibiting — a decision that drew global blowback and allegations of sexism. It raised about $9 million over five years.
