01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Metamaze was a Belgium-based intelligent document processing (IDP) software company, spun out of boutique AI firm Faktion in 2017 and headquartered in Antwerp. Its adaptive IDP platform used AI and no-code techniques to replace manual data extraction and classification from documents and emails, letting business users train, manage and deploy state-of-the-art AI models to automatically process, extract and structure information from any document type - with active learning and human-in-the-loop validation. Serving banking and insurance clients in Belgium and across Europe at roughly 100% year-on-year growth, it processed over 400,000 documents weekly for one Belgian financial client. On February 6, 2024 it was acquired by Duco, the London-based AI-powered data automation company backed by Nordic Capital, combining the two platforms to let firms ingest any type of data from any document.
