01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Taste was a New York City-based startup, part of Y Combinator's Winter 2021 batch, that brought multicourse fine-dining experiences into customers' homes. Co-founded by Daryl Sew and Jeff Chen (who had sold his previous startup Joyride to Google), it partnered with restaurants such as Dirt Candy, Meadowsweet and the Musket Room to deliver meal kits with wine pairings, plating instructions and curated playlists, using pre-ordering and batching to help restaurants lift capacity. Kits ranged from under $40 to $60-$100 per person.
