01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Ninja Delivery was a Canadian ultra-fast grocery delivery startup promising 10-minute deliveries. Launched in Waterloo, Ontario in 2021 by co-founder and CEO Wesley Yue, it served customers through micro-fulfillment 'dark stores' stocked with 1,300+ products — fresh produce, meat, alcohol, health and household items — with free delivery on orders over $10, operating daily until 2am. In March 2022, six months after launch, it raised C$2.8 million from Lachy Groom, Flexport, and Contrary Capital to expand across Ontario and British Columbia, with 80+ employees and a proprietary dispatch algorithm powering e-bike couriers.
